Description
English: BURNHAM HOARD 2010 T509: Item A.7 Socketed Axe; South Eastern - Plain (Petters type A.1)
Cast copper alloy. Wide upper mouth moulding with a narrower moulding below; the two mouth mouldings are widely spaced. The side loop extends from the lower mouth moulding. The cutting edge is worn and uneven. The body has a rectangular cross section. Casting seams have been smoothed. Sides are parallel but slightly concave, expanding out at the blade end; blade tips do not flare out. There is damaged at the socket opening.

Length: 80.89mm. Weight: 138.89 grams. Socket Mouth: 37.43mm by 23.48mm. Loop: 19.31mm long, 3.49mm wide; located 13.81mm from mouth opening. Body: 26.50mm wide by 15.21mm thick. Cutting edge: 33.32mm.
