Description

Solenidade de Lançamento das Medalhas Comemorativas dos 200 anos do Senado Federal. A solenidade abre a programação de eventos alusivos ao bicentenário.

As medalhas são concedidas a personalidades de destaque como forma de agradecimento e reconhecimento ao apoio à atividade legislativa e política realizada no âmbito do Senado Federal, e foram cunhadas pela Casa da Moeda do Brasil (CMB), em três diferentes tipos de materiais nobres: prata dourada (vermeil), prata e bronze. O projeto artístico foi desenvolvido por Glória Dias e a modelagem por Fernanda Costa e Érika Takeyama, da equipe da CMB.

Em cada espécie é retratada uma das sedes, tendo em vista que as fachadas desses palácios constituem representações simbólicas e iconográficas do Senado, associadas à história, política, cultura e arquitetura. No anverso da medalha, o desenho destaca uma sede: Palácio Conde dos Arcos (bronze), Palácio Monroe (prata) e Palácio do Congresso Nacional (prata dourada). No reverso, elementos modernistas, característicos da arquitetura da atual Casa, compõem a inscrição 200 anos do Senado.

Participam: senador Jader Barbalho (MDB-PA); deputado Eunício Oliveira (MDB-CE).
