Date: post-medieval

Description: Small silver-gilt dress fitting, made in one plane with three large attachment loops and one of two smaller ones remaining.Reverse chased and gilt. Worn from wear with a separate hook element.

Discussion: A functional gilt dress fitting, forming the eye section of a hook and eye. Probably 16th Century.

As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
