Deutsch: Sankt-Laurentius-Kirche auf der Halbinsel Zudar (Rügen) (2)

Die Kirche wurde erstmals 1318 urkundlich erwähnt. Vor ^370 war sie Wallfahrtskirche. 1665 wurde der hölzerne Kirchturm fertiggestellt und im Jahr 1724 erhielt der Kirchturm eine »Welsische Haube«.

Die Orgel wurde 1884 von Friedrich Albert Mehmel aus Stralsund gebaut. 1985 wurde sie generalüberholt.


Die Kirche besaß ursprünglich drei Glocken, die 1848 in Stralsund von Simon Zack gegossen wurden. Während des 1. Weltkriegs mussten zwei Glocken abgegeben werden, die nach dessen Ende neu angeschafft wurden. Auch diese mussten im 2. Weltkrieg dran glauben. Im Jahr 2001 bekam die Kirche dann wieder zwei neue Glocken. -


Die Halbinsel Zudar gehört zur Insel Rügen und liegt ganz im Süden am Eingang des Strelasunds. Sie ist ca. 18 qkm groß.


An der schmalsten Stelle ist die Halbinsel gerade mal 900 m breit. Auf dem Zudar befindet sich zudem der südlichste Punkt Rügens.


Sehenswert sind die St. Laurentius-Kirche, das Geburtshaus des Dichters Ernst Moritz Arndt in Groß Schoritz und die typischen Rügener Alleen an den Autostraßen.
