Summary
[edit]Description2008-0511-StadiumVillage-001.jpg |
English: The Stadium Village neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The central artery for the neighborhood is Washington Avenue, and is surrounded by restaurants, bars, cafes, stores, housing and other businesses supporting the University of Minnesota (including some University buildings). The neighborhood was named after the old Memorial Stadium, which was the home of Minnesota Golden Gophers college football from 1924-1981, and demolished in 1992. The site of the original stadium is now partially occupied by the trapezoidal McNamara Alumni Center (designed by Antoine Predock. The new TCF Bank Stadium is rising in the background, only a block away from the site of the former stadium. |
