Description
Deutsch: 13.07.2007 01326 Dresden-Loschwitz: Joseph-Herrmann-Denkmal (GMP: 51.053579,13.813976). Rotunde von 1869 an der Friedrich-Wieck- / Ecke Fidelio-F.-Finke Straße. Joseph Herrmann entwarf zum Gedenken an die Tat seines Vaters 1868/69 ein Relief, das die Szene der Rettung der beiden Schiffbrüchigen auf der vereisten Elbe vom 24.Februar 1799 darstellt. Er fertigte das Werk in Rom, als Baustoff verwendete er Carrara-Marmor. Das Rundrelief wurde anschließend nach Loschwitz gebracht und in einem dafür errichteten steinernen Pavillon installiert. Seit 1974 unter Denkmalschutz. Am 1. August 1869 wird in Loschwitz die Joseph-Herrmann-Stiftung ins Leben gerufen. Josep-Hermann (1800-1869) war Schüler der Dresdner Kunstakademie und ließ sich nach Aufenthalten in Rom und St. Petersburg in Loschwitz nieder. Der Bildhauer fertigte zahlreiche Skulpturen.
