Deutsch: 08.05.2007 01558 Großenhain, Neumarkt 1A und Poststraße 10/ Ecke Klostergasse: Das Maria-Magdalenen-Kloster (GMP: 51.291325,13.528687) wird in Urkunden 1240 erstmalig erwähnt. Die Nonnen gehörten zum Augustiner-Orden. Als Kloster der "Büßenden Schwestern" (auch Reuerinnen genannt) war es ursprünglich eine barmherzige Stiftung und "Bekehrungsanstalt". Schon im 13. Jh. hatte das Kloster großen Landbesitz erworben. 1288 bestätigte Markgraf Albrecht sämtliche Schenkungen seines Vaters an das Kloster. Mit der Reformation in Sachsen wurde das Kloster 1539 aufgelöst. Die Nonnen sollen vor Wut das Kloster angezündet haben - zumindest ging von diesem Gelände der verheerende Stadtbrand im Juli 1540 aus. Der Rat der Stadt erhielt drei Jahre später das Klostergelände. 1599 erbaute Kurfürst Christian nördlich der Klosterkirche das Amtshaus. 1620 ging das Vorderhaus (südlich der Kirche) in Privatbesitz über. Im Jahre 1872 wurde die Kirchenruine gesprengt, nur Fragmente der Chorwand aus dem 15. Jh. blieben erhalten. [DSCN27905.TIF]20070508180DR.JPG(c)Blobelt |
