Image title | 03.12.2006 01067 Dresden, Wettiner Platz 13 (GMP: 51.053811,13.724765): Gymnasium Wettinianum - Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber. Die Hochschule für Musik wurde 1856 als privates Konservatorium vom Kammermusiker Friedrich Tröstler gegründet. 1952 erfolgte die Verstaatlichung. 2007 studieren hier 670 Musiktalente aus über 30 Ländern. Der einst wichtige Platz in der Wilsdruffer Vorstadt wurde 1898 nach dem Adelsgeschlecht der Wettiner benannt. Von 1946 bis 1991 hieß er Fritz-Heckert- Platz (kommunistischer Reichtstagsabgeordneter, 1884-1936). Am Platz gab es schon seit 1884 das Wettiner Gymnasium, das zweite städtische Gymnasium nach der Kreuzschule. Es entstand nach Plänen von Theodor Friedrich. Im Februar 1945 erlitt auch der linke Gebäudeflügel des Wettiner Gymnasiums schwere Bombenschäden. Es wurde 1974 wieder aufgebaut. Da die Kreuzschule kriegszerstört war, nutzte sie bis 1961 das Wettiner Gymnasium. Anschließend war hier bis 1981 die 9. Polytechnische Oberschule untergebracht. Sicht von Süden.
