Deutsch: 15.11.2006 01139 Dresden-Übigau: Blick über die Elbe zum Schloß Übigau, Rethelstraße 45 (GMP: 51.069425,13.698808). Johann Friedrich Eosander von Göthe errichtete 1724-1726 das Gebäude für Feldmarschall Graf Jacob Heinrich von Flemming. Hinter ihm stand August der Starke (1670-1733), das Anwesen sogleich kaufte. Von der einstigen Pracht ist nicht viel geblieben. Die Maschinenbauanstalt zu Übigau kaufte 1836 das Schloß und errichtete gleich nebenan eine Dampfmaschinenfabrik. Im Schloß wohnte und arbeitete Andreas Schubert (1808-1870), der den ersten Passagierdampfer "Königin Maria" und die erste deutsche Dampflokomotive, die "Saxonia", konstruierte. Aus dem traditionsreichen Betrieb ging nach 1945 der VEB Dampfkesselbau hervor. Links der alte Uferkran von 1891 (GMP: 51.068506,13.699374) vor der Schiffswerft Übigau.
