Description
Deutsch: 02.07.2006 01067 Dresden-Friedrichstadt, Friedrichstraße 54: Alter Katholischer Friedhof. Torhaus (GMP: 51.060155,13.719123). Im Jahr 1721 schenkte August der Starke seiner

Schwiegertochter, der Erzherzogin Maria Josepha ein Stück Land, auf dem für die katholischen Mitglieder des Hofes ein Begräbnisplatz angelegt wurde. 1724 erfolgte die erste Bestattung. 1758 gelang es den katholischen Bürgern Dresdens, daß auch sie dort begraben durften. Bereits 1740 wurde der Platz erweitert, 1842 zum zweiten Mal. Viele für das Kunst- und Geistesleben Dresdens und Sachsens bedeutende Persönlichkeiten liegen auf diesem Friedhof begraben. Insgesamt gibt es in Dresden 58 Friedhöfe mit einer Fläche von ca. 173

Hektar. Darunter sind vier kommunale, ein staatlicher, 49 evangelisch-lutherische, zwei katholische und zwei jüdische. Insgesamt sind derzeit 48 Friedhöfe für Beisetzungen geöffnet. [DSCN10556.TIF]20060702090DR.JPG(c)Blobelt
