Description
English: Under Secretary of the Army James E. McPherson and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot walk into a press conference April 17 at Hall B of the COVDI19 Alternate Care Facility at McCormick Place. Senator Tammy Duckworth, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and Maj. Gen. Robert Whittle, the deputy chief and deputy commanding general of the Army Corps of Engineers, were also in attendance to hear about the construction progress of the facility. Upon completion, McCormick Place will have a total of 3000 patient rooms available. The Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, in support of the White House, Department of Defense, FEMA, and state and local authorities, has been working around the clock in order to create four ACFs to help slow the spread of the pandemic.
