Description
Deutsch: 04.05.2004 06642 Memleben: Ehem. ottonische Kaiserpfalz und Benediktinerkloster. Reste der zweiten Klosteranlage aus der 1. Hälfte des 13. Jh. Barocker Eingangsturm am Abthaus. Im Bauernkrieg wurde das Kloster 1525 geplündert und 1548 nach d. Reformation endgültig aufgehoben. 1551 wurden die Güter vom sächsischen Kurfürsten eingezogen und der Landesschule Pforta geschenkt. 1945 wird das Gut verstaatlicht. Als "Volkseigenes Gut" (VEG) (ab 1974 mit Beinamen "Thomas Müntzer") wurden ca. 6200 Hektar bearbeitet. Das VEG stellt Ende 1991 seine Tätigkeit ein und wird aufgelöst.
