Deutsch: 22.09.2003 01139 Dresden-Übigau: Schloß Übigau, Rethelstraße 45 (GMP: 51.069425,13.698808). Johann Friedrich Eosander von Göthe errichtete 1724-1726 das
Gebäude für Feldmarschall Graf Jacob Heinrich von Flemming. Hinter ihm stand August der Starke (1670-1733), der sich in das Baugeschehen einmischte und das Anwesen sogleich kaufte. Von der einstigen Pracht ist nicht viel geblieben, denn Übigau geriet im 19. Jahrhundert in den Sog der Industrialisierung. Die Maschinenbauanstalt zu Übigau kaufte 1836 das Schloß und errichtete gleich nebenan eine Dampfmaschinenfabrik. Im Schloß wohnte und arbeitete Andreas Schubert (1808-1870), der den ersten Passagierdampfer "Königin Maria" und die erste deutsche Dampflokomotive, die "Saxonia", konstruierte.
