| Description |
The Impreza was introduced in 1992 to replace the Subaru Leone, mainly available in 4 door sedan or 5 door hatchback bodies. Subaru has offered both front and all-wheel drive versions of the Impreza, the performance version was the WRX. The 1st generation was built from 1992-2000, models available were the LX, GL, Sport and WRX. 1997 saw a mild facelift and a new dashboard in 1998 The WRX features rally inspired technology, including all wheel drive, stiffened suspensions and turbocharged engines. The numbered STi versions got blueprinted performance-tuned engines, transmissions, and suspensions. Released in March 2000, the Club Spec Evo 4 was solely available with a manual transmission. Compared to the standard WRX, the Club Spec Evo 4 got an upmarket stereo. Visually, it could be identified by its cashmere yellow paint finish, polished black alloy wheels, brushed aluminium instrument facings and ‘Evo 4’ decals. Production was limited to 300 units (250 sedans and 50 wagons) and each vehicle had a numbered plaque on its dashboard. Engine; 206 kw turbo 4 cyl |
