| Description |
English: Built in 1883 and 1885, these two brick Italianate-style commercial buildings stand side by side on 1st Street in Minneapolis’s North Loop/Warehouse District. The building to the south, built in 1885, features a red brick facade with arched second story double-hung windows, a contemporary storefront, limestone trim, and a simple parapet, having originally featured a cornice. The building to the north, built in 1883, features a buff brick facade, limestone trim, pilasters, corbeling, a decorative cornice with a semi-circular pediment and brackets, double-hung two-over-two windows, and a historic iron storefront at ground level with a contemporary exposed steel beam lintel. The buildings originally functioned as a boarding hotel and had retail spaces on the first floors, but today are entirely commercial space. The buildings are contributing structures in the Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. |
