English: First Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment (Airborne) conducted a battalion platoon competition along Arctic Valley Road Jan. 13, 2013. The competition pitted 12 of the battalion's platoons in an endurance and skills competition against one another on a course, which consisted of a 5 mile ruck-run interlaced with a 150 pound-Ahkio drag/carry (2.5 uphill, 2.5 downhill) and a three-quarter mile snow shoe sprint. Second Platoon, Comanche Company dominated the event, coming in at a time of 1 hour 32 minutes 59 seconds. First Platoon, Comanche Company followed soon thereafter, with a time of 1 hour 33 minutes 45 seconds; and 2nd Platoon, Blackfoot Company rounded out the top-three with a time of 1 hour 33 minutes 50 seconds. The course was considered successful in solidifying platoons' teamwork and competitive determination due to the competition design's mental and physical stressors which required teamwork, peer leadership, and physical stamina.
