Description
English: 1966-01-17. A trial run for Private (Pte) Brian McGrath of East Malvern, Melbourne, Vic, Lance Corporal Angus Mackay of Geraldton, WA, and Pte Brian Duncan of Fairfield, Sydney, NSW, on a Viet Cong 12.7mm machine gun. The weapon was captured during an operation by the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR). Four similar machineguns were taken from a vast underground Viet Cong tunnel complex uncovered during Operation Crimp.
