Description The XJ-S replaced the E-type and was based on the XJ Saloon. It was built from 1975-96 with a facelift in 1991, the rear side windows appeared larger and a new more aerodynamic bumper. The engine sizes were also increased, the V12 from 5.3 to 6.0 and the 6cyl (introduced in 1983) from 3.6 to 4.0. the 6 cyl cars got a slight 'power bulge' in the bonnet. A targa convertible introduced in 1983 (XJ SC) and then a full convertible in 1988 (XJR-S)
