| Description |
The VL Commodore was built from Feb 1986-August 1988. The last facelift on the 1st generation Commodore, lines were smoothed out, it got a subtle boot spoiler and new headlights. There were no Statesman or Utility versions with the first gen Commodore, so the Kingswood shape still continued on. The old Holden 6 cylinder was gone, the Nissan RB30E engine was used in the VL, (a turbo version available 6 months later) a new Holden V6 was being designed for the next model, the VN. 5 levels of trim were available: SL; 6 cyl, manual trans, cloth interior, bucket seats. Executive; auto trans, power steering, cloth interior Berlina; auto trans, cord cloth interior, console, tacho. Calais; auto trans, digital dash, trip computer, cruise, velour interior, semi retractable headlights, alloys. SS; V8, Man trans, performance running gear, sports interior, alloys. Peter Brocks HDT came to an end after an argument with Holden, Holden started up their own performance vehicle division; HSV HDT; LE Calais, SS Group A HSV; SS Group A Engines; 114 kw 3000 6 cyl, 150kw 3000 Turbo 6 cyl, 122kw 5.0 V8 |
