Summary
[edit]Description1985 redecking work, Steel Bridge, Portland.jpg |
English: The Glisan Street ramp of the 1912 Steel Bridge, in Portland, Oregon, during a two-year project in 1984–86 to replace the bridge's deck and add light rail tracks and wires, for the first MAX line. On the Glisan ramp, a long section spanning Front Avenue (now Naito Parkway) was removed completely and replaced, and this photo shows that section during dismantling. At the bottom of the frame, long-abandoned narrow gauge streetcar tracks were still in place, in the portion of the ramp not being removed; those tracks were paved over (or removed) later in the 1984–86 rebuilding project. This ramp was not where light-rail tracks were added at that time, but light-rail tracks were laid on the Glisan Street ramp much later, during construction of a different light rail line, in 2008. |
