Description Pittsburgh Port Authority Transit PCC streetcar No. 1745 northbound on Smithfield Street near 4th Avenue on June 3, 1985, a little over one month before the end of all remaining streetcar service on surface streets in downtown Pittsburgh. These tracks were abandoned after the end of the July 6 service day (around 1:30 a.m. on July 7), replaced by the then-new light rail subway underneath downtown.
