Summary

[edit]
Description

Colour; Palais White. The VC Commodore was built from March 1980-October 1981 The VB got a mild facelift in 1980; the VC, it got a new egg crate grille. The big news with the VC was the new 6 cyl blue engines, replacing the red, more efficient with 12 port heads, the V8s got improved heads as well. In July 1980 a 1.9 litre starfire 4 cylinder was available as well. Models available were the Base L, mid SL and luxury SLE. Also in 1980, the newly formed Holden Dealer Team, ran by Peter Brock, produced 500 performance versions of the SLE 5.0 litre V8. The idea was to make some money for the race team and get a number of things homologated for racing. The HDT 5.0 was based on the SLE, it also got a front air dam, flares and a 3 piece rear spoiler. The engine was also improved, inlet and exhaust ports enlarged, larger valves and dual exhaust. It was only available in 3 colours; Palais White, Firethorn Red and Tuxedo Black Engine; 160 kw 5.0 V8.

HDT won the Bathurst Hardie Ferodo in the VC in 1980 driven again by Peter Brock and Jim Richards.
