| Description |
The XD Falcon was built from March 1979-March 1982. The XD got a completely new body, a boxy European design rather than curvy American lines of the earlier years, the grille and square headlights similar to Europes Ford Granada. But it was still an XC Falcon underneath with same floorpan and suspension. Sedans were available in GL, Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia Wagons in GL or Fairmont, Ute and Van in Standard or GL Two option packs were available on the Sedans; The S pack; (on GL only) driving lights, round slotted wheels, full instrumentation The ESP option: on GL from June 80, and Ghia from Jan 81; Scheel seats, Globe alloys, Fog lamps, body coloured grille, front spoiler, upgraded suspension, LSD and 4 wheel discs. 1980 saw an upgrade on the 6 cyl; alloy head and electronic ignition. (Identified with Alloy head badges on the front guards). Engines; 82kw 3.3 6 cyl, 94kw 4.1 6 cyl, 140kw 4.9 V8 and 149kw 5.8 V8 This car is a ex Victoria Police Unit, a very original car with only 167,000km on it, came from the factory with 351 cu in 4v engine, 4 speed manual, LSD, Air, Steer, long range tank, sports instrumentation, cloth trim and a vinyl floor. |
