The VC Commodore was built from March 1980-October 1981 The VB Commodore, introduced in 1978 got a mild facelift in 1980; the VC, it got a new egg crate grille. The big news with the VC was the new 6 cyl blue engines, replacing the red, more efficent with 12 port heads, the V8s got improved heads as well. Also in 1980, the newly formed Holden Dealer Team produced 500 performance versions of the SLE 5.0 litre V8. There were no long wheelbase Statesman or Utility versions so the WB Kingswood shape continued on to fill the gap. Three levels of trim were available; L; 1900 or 2850cc, 4 spd manual, body coloured tail panel, silver dash, vinyl trim, steel wheels SL; 3300cc, 3 spd auto, silver tail panel, rosewood dash, cloth trim, wheel trims. SLE; 4200cc, 3 spd auto, black tail panel, walnut dash, velour trim, alloy wheels, blacked out grille, headlight wipers, 5.0 opt. A Wagon was also available in L or SL. Engines; 58kw 1900 starfire 4 cyl, 76kw 2850 and 83kw 3300 blue 6 cyls. V8s; 100kw 4200 or 126kw 5000 (160kw HDT) This car has been owned by the same owner since new, and never restored in any way. |
