The CM Valiant was built in Australia from Nov 1978 - Aug 1981. The last of the Australian Valiants, very similar to the CL, the CMs side strip was higher on the doors and all engine badging denoted ELB (Electronic Lean Burn). Chrysler was really starting to wind things up now, only a Sedan and a Wagon were available. There was now no 2 door Charger, Utility or Panel Van. For a performance car, the sporty GLX was introduced, Models available were; Valiant; Sedan or Wagon, Standard 245 Hemi 6 cyl Regal; Sedan or Wagon, 265 Hemi 6 cyl, distinctive grille, bonnet ornament, front fender repeater lights, remote control external mirror, plusher interior. Regal SE; Sedan, 318 V8, auto, power steering, air con, alloys and vinyl roof. GLX; Sedan, 265 Hemi 6 cyl (318 V8 option), 4 on the floor, console, tachometer, the old Charger dash and grille, body stripes and Cheviot Hotwire mags Engines; 165hp 245 or 203hp 265 Hemi 6s and 230hp 318 V8 |
