Typically a van introduced in 1950, known as the Type 2 (the Beetle was the Type 1) The T1 was the 1st variation, built from 1950-57, the T2 was the 2nd, built from 1967-79. With the T2 the split windscreen was gone, it was nicknamed the Breadloaf . An update T2, in 1972 had the indicators higher up, either side of the air grille and new 1600cc engine. Available in Van (no side windows), Kombi (with side windows), Samba Bus (with skylight windows), Camping Van (lift up roof) and 2 or 4 door Pickups. |
