Description

The XB Falcon was built from Sept 1973- July 1976. The XA got a facelift in 1973; the XB was introduced, it got a more pronounced nose due to the reworking of the bonnet. It also got a divided honeycomb grille, more conventional taillights and new bumpers. The GT got new hood scoops, the design reminiscent of the 1971-73 U.S. Mustang, the GT badges were gone and replaced by GT351 decals on the guards and boot. The GT was designed with racing in mind. Moffat changed to the XB in 1974, Ford pulled out of racing this year forcing Moffat to operate privately, both his Mustang and the Falcon ran with Brutt 33 sponsorship for the year.

He struggled with reliability, winning only round 3 at Sandown and round 5 at Oran Park. The car was going to struggle against the Toranas in the Endurance races at Sandown and Bathurst, so the car was sent to the States to be rebuilt at Kar Kraft, Project B52 was to be the ultimate race car. The XB cleaned up at Sandown, but was plagued with problems at Bathurst retiring on lap 108
