| Description |
Sunburst. Built from Feb 1972-March 1974 Engine; 202 6, triple strombergs, 1667 LJ XU1s made. The LC Torana got a facelft in 1972, now the LJ with new HQ style grille and the engines were all improved. In GTR XU1 form, the LCs 186 cu in engines capacity was increased to 202 with the LJ, along with larger 1.75in CD triple carburettors, producing over 200 hp, as well as a new close ratio M21 4-speed Australian made transmission. With great power to weight ratio, it proved to be a good little race car. Up against the larger GTHOs and E49s, the Giant killer won the Bathurst Hardie Ferodo 500 in 1972 with Peter Brock at the wheel. |
