| Description |
The Cortina got a new coke bottle shape in 1971, the 3rd generation. The 1st of the Mk III Cortinas, the TC with downward sloping dash and round headlights, was built from 1971-73, In England it was available in L, XL, GT and GXL with 4 cyl engines. This car was built in Australia, they were available there in L, XL and XLE, the single headlight cars gettting either 1600 or 2000 4 cyl and the twin headlight cars got the 200 or 250 cu in 6 cyl Falcon engines. Also available in South Africa with the Essex 2.5 and 3.0 V6 The later Mk III Cortina, the TD (73-76) got rectangular headlights and more conventional dash Photographed at the 1st Cortina Nationals in Albury, Australia. |
