Wild Plum. The XA Falcon Sedan was built From March 1972- Sept 1973. (Hardtop from July 72) First Fully Australian Designed Falcon, the XA got a much softer and smoother, more aerodynamic body, covering only a mildly revised floor pan and mechanicals, inside a new wrap around style dash and high back front seats. Big news was the 2 door Hardtop was reintroduced to compete with the 2 door Monaro and Charger. The new Hardtop got a lower roofline, wider rear quarters and set in, sloping, rear tail lights, the sedans tail lights were unique too, 6 individual lights. An XA Hardtop won the Bathurst 1000 in 1973 and 74 Engines; 200 and 250 6s or 302 and 351 V8s Sedans; Standard, 500, Futura, Fairmont and GT Hardtop; 500, Fairmont, GT and limited edition Superbird Wagon; Standard, 500 or Fairmont Ute;Standard or 500 Van; Standard The GS package was available on 500, Futura or Fairmont, It got swoopy GS stripes, 12 slot rims and caps, full instrumentation, and rim blow steering wheel.
