Mercury Silver. The VH Valiant was built in Australia from June 1971 to May 1973, it was fully Australian designed and built. It was a larger car and more rounded than the VG, the grille heavily influenced by its US counterparts. A more powerful 265 cu in hemi 6 was introduced and the new Charger 2 door coupe. The Charger was available in many models with many options Base; 215 cu in, 2bbl, 140hp, 3 spd XL; better interior appointments, 245 cu in (318 V8 option) 770; luxury interior, vinyl trim to rear side windows, 265 6 or 318 V8. 770SE E55; Luxury with performance. Air, steer, alloy wheels, 275hp 340 cu in V8, 4 bbl, auto, 124 VH E55s made (212 VJs) RT; the performance car built with racing in mind. The base RT got the 218hp 265 2bbl, 3spd, 699 were made. The more powerful versions were; The RT E37; 248hp 265 cu in, 6 pk carbys, 3 spd, 134 made The RT E38; 280hp 265 cu in, 6 pk carbys, 3 spd, 316 made The RT E48; 248hp 265 cu in, 6 pk carbys, 4 spd, 2 made The RT E49; 302hp 265 cu in, 6 pk carbys, 4 spd, 149 made (A87 option was available, this was the 35 gal tank, 82 E38s and 21 E49s were made with this option). |
