Description

While Ford America called the Mustang its Pony car, Ford of Englands Pony car was the Capri, (also built in Germany) but no V8 of course, it got the engine from the Cortina. This, the MkI was built from 1969-74 (facelift in 1970) Ford of South Africa assembled the Capri only from 1970 to 1972 with a similar model range to the UK. No later facelift models or RS variants were marketed in South Africa. About 500 Capris were converted by specialist Basil Green Motors to run the 302 Ford Windsor V8 engine with 600 cfm Holley, it put out 280bhp. These models were known as the Capri Perana. The rack and pinion steering had to be moved behind the front suspension. They got unique stripes added to the front, a blacked out rear, louvre and the bulging bonnet from the V6 Capri.

This car has been modified a bit; it has the flat bonnet and a shaker and lock down pins added, stripes should be on top of the front guards,
