Bolwell is an Australian company that produced sports cars between 1962 and 1979 The first, 1962-64 Mk IV was offered as a really swoopy looking coupe with steel tube chassis and fibreglass body. Power was generally Fords 4 cyl Kent. The GT version had gullwing doors, the 1964 Mk IVb was lower and not so swoopy, now a back bone unitary chassis. 100 were made including 12 GTs. The 1964-66 Mk V looked more like an E type Jag with a Jensen Interceptor like rear window, now designed to suit Holdens 6 cyl, still with back bone unitary chassis and fibreglass body. 75 made. The 1968 Mk VI, (SR6) a 1 off mid-engined racing car. The 1967-72 Mk VII, now a sleeker looking car with a fastback rear window, four fender vents, mainly powered again by the Holden 6 cyl. 400 were made Then this car, the 1970-74 Mk VIII Nagari, now a one piece fibreglass body, styling like Lotus' Europa, six fender vents, initially offered in coupe only, a convertible being available from 1972. Early cars were Ford Windsor V8 powered with Cortina parkers, later cars Ford Cleveland V8 powered and MG parkers. 100 coupes and 18 convertibles produced |
