Summary
[edit]Description1971 917K 019 - The hammer of the gods... (6282840049).jpg | This is unrestored. Original paint, original wear. "Outlawed" (as the loophole for 5 litre sports cars expired) on three continents (4 if you count Kylami in South Africa) as closed top endurance racers among 3 litre prototypes, they were re-rigged as opentop roadsters, had turbos applied to the 4.5 to 5.4 litre engine... and bingo, more than 1000 hp per ton! The 917-10 Turbo ended McLaren's 5 year reign in Can Am with 2 years of back to back victories... but that killed all the fun here too. |
