Plumdinger. The LC Torana was built from October 1969-Feb 1972 The LC replaced the HB, A completely new body, on the old floor pan, but longer to accommodate a 6 cyl as well as the 4 cyl. It was available in 2 and 4 door, and in many different models. The 4 cyl, got a flat grille with vertical bars and round tail lights. it was available in base, S and SL and 1200 or 1600cc (1600 only in SL). The 6 cyl cars got a mesh grille, body coloured horizontal central bar, with a protruding pointed centre and rectangular wrap around tail lights. They were available in S, SL, the sporty GTR and race ready XU1 (GTR and XU1 only 2 door) . Engines were either the 95hp 138 cu in (2250cc) or the optional 114hp 161 cu in (2600cc) The GTR got 125hp 161 cu in, 4 speed floor shift, louvres in the front guards, black out treatment, side stripes, GTR badging, sports wheels and sports instrumentation. The XU1 got the larger 160hp 186 cu in with triple carbys, similar look as the GTR, but front and rear spoilers as well. |
