| Description |
The XT Falcon was built from March 1968-June 1969. The XT was a facelift on the XR with revised plain flat grille, the tail lights remained circular, but the indicators were now horizontal rectangles, instead of the XR’s circles. The main change was under the bonnet, all engine sizes were increased, they were more reliable and more economical. The Sedan was available in Falcon, Falcon 500, Fairmont and GT The Wagon; Falcon, Falcon 500 and Fairmont The Utility in Falcon and Falcon 500 and Panel Van in just Falcon. The Falcon 500 got 2 speed wipers, courtesy lights, carpet. The Fairmont got bucket seats, console and a woodgrain dash. The GT got the Fairmont interior, plus extra instrumentation, sports steering wheel, 4 speed manual, driving lights, black grille, black tail light panel and full stainless steel wheel trims. A team of three XT Falcon GTs won the Teams prize in the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon, finishing 3rd, 6th and 8th outright Engines; 114hp 188 cu in or 135hp 221 cu in 6 cyls and 210hp 302 V8 (GT230hp) |
