Summary

[edit]
Description The Verdala Palace, 800 metres east of Dingli, is the official summer residence of the President of the Republic . The Palace was built by Grandmaster de Verdalle in 1586. In 1800 Napoleon used it as a military prison. However the abandoned "prison " was restored by Governor Sir William Reid in 1858, becoming the official residency of the Governors of Malta during British Rule. The interior courtyard is delightful.
