Description

The 1st of the Cortinas, was introduced in 1962, with eliptical indicators separate to the grille, available in Standard or Deluxe with 46hp 1197cc 4 cyl. The first update in 1963 saw an update to the dash, the strip speedo replaced by round instruments and the 60hp Super and 78hp GT were introduced with larger 1499cc engine. The GT got lowered suspension, a different camshaft profile, larger ports in the head, headers and twin throat Weber carby. The 2nd update in 1964, the Consul name was dropped, now just Cortina, the grille now incorporating squarer parkers and new flow through ventilation (eyeball vents in dash and square vents in the outer rear pillars) Still available in 2 or 4 door saloon or estate. It was available in Standard and Deluxe with 46hp 1197cc 4 cyl or Super and GT with 1499cc (60 and 78hp).
