English: This 1964 postcard of Center Square shows the Dime Bank Building on the northwest corner, the former Allentown National Bank Building on the northeast corner, the First National Bank Building, also on the northeast corner, and the Soldiers and Sailors monument at the center of the squarɛ

The Dime Bank was founded in the early 1920s, and failed during the Great Depression. In the decades after, the building mostly stood vacant, with occasional use by one business or another. The Allentown National Bank Building was erected in 1905, and was in use until the First National Bank Building was erected in 1958 on the site of the Hotel Allen. The Center Square monument is a Civil War monument erected in 1899. It has the Goddess of Liberty Statue at the top, which was taken down in 1958 for restoration. A new statue was placed on top of the monument earlier in 1964 prior to the date this postcard was photographed.

The Ednicott Johnson building to the east of the First National Bank building dated to the mid 1800s. It were torn down in 1972 when the First National Bank building was expanded.
