Description

The Rolls Royce Phantom Series was the ultra exclusive, top of the line Rolls Royce built from 1925-1990 1925-31 Rolls Royce Phantom I; 7668cc 6 cyl, 3512 produced 1929-36 Rolls Royce Phantom II; 7668cc 6 cyl, 1680 produced 1936-39 Rolls Royce Phantom III; 7338cc V12, 727 produced 1950-56 Rolls Royce Phantom IV; 5700cc 8 cyl, 18 produced 1959-68 Rolls Royce Phantom V; 6230cc V8, 516 produced 1968-90 Rolls Royce Phantom VI 6750cc V8, 374 produced Like previous cars, with the Phantom V, Rolls-Royce assembled the cars' chassis and drivetrain with bodies made to standard designs by coachbuilders H. J. Mulliner, Park Ward, and James Young. Frenchman, Henri Chapron was the last coachbuilder to work on a Rolls chassis, when they built a touring limousine on the Phantom V chassis in 1960. The coach builder of this car was Park Ward, it features a cocktail cabinet, electrically operated windows and air conditioning. The woodwork is French figured Walnut, comfort is assured with English hide upholstery. This is one of two cars purchased by the New Zealand government for official use of the Governor General and visiting dignitaries on formal occasions such as the Royal Tour in 1963.
