From 1962, Fords mainstream cars were available in three sizes; Introduced in 1960, was the compact Falcon, the intermediate sized Fairlane was 16 inches longer than the Falcon and the full size Galaxie was another 12 inches longer than the Fairlane. The 1962 Galaxie was produced in in three different models; The base Galaxie was available in 2 and 4 door Sedan. The new Galaxie 500 got a more upmarket interior and more chrome, available in the posted 4 door Town sedan or 2 door Club Sedan, also the pillarless 4 door Town Victoria and 2 door Club Victoria and 2 door Sunliner Convertible. The top of the line Galaxie 500 XL was available in 2 door Club Victoria and 2 door Sunliner Convertible. They got a luxurious new bucket seat / console interior with attractive chrome seat strapping and matching chrome mylar door panels. Wagons were the 2 door Ranch, 4 door Country and top Country Squire Engines; 138hp 223 cu in 6 cyl, 170hp 292, 220hp 352, 300hp 390 and 385hp 406 cu in V8s |
