| Description |
The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. All sheetmetal, except the doors, was changed again in 1962, a more conservative looking car. The Sedans and 2 door Sport Coupe got a convertible roof style roofline whereas the 2 door Hardtop Coupe still had the bubble back Roofline. The base model Biscayne, in 2 or 4 door Sedans and Brookwood Wagon. Mid spec, Bel Air (twin round tail lights); 2 door Sedan, Hardtop Coupe, 4 door Sedan and 4 door Wagon. Top model; Impala (triple round tail lights, slightly wider side trim); 2 door Sport Coupe, Hardtop Coupe, Convertible, 4 door Sedan, Hardtop Sport Sedan and Wagon. The high performance Impala SS (Super Sport) was introduced in 1961, 2 door Hardtop Coupe or Convertible Also available in 1962 was the C1 Corvette Sports car, rear engine Corvair and the new for 62 compact Chevy II (Nova) Chevrolets were also produced in Australia by General Motors Holden from 1926-68, in 1962, only the 4 door Sedan was sold there, along side the 4 door Pontiac Laurentian Sedan. Engines; 135hp 235 6 cyl, 170hp 283 V8, the new 250, 300, 340 or 360hp 327 V8 and 380 or 409hp 409 V8 |
