| Description |
The Plymouth was introduced in 1928, Chryslers lowest priced car. Plymouths got a new 'Spaceship' look in 1957, flatter, wider and lower. They had a gently sloped windshield, a razor thin flat roof with tapered rear window, and rising fins created the wedge effect. The 1959 facelift saw the slat grille replaced by a new egg-crate grille, parkers now wrap around and smoother rear fins. The Plaza was dropped for 1959, the Savoy was now the base model, available in 2 door Coupe and 2 or 4 door Sedan. Mid spec was now the Belvedere, available in 2 or 4 door Sedan, 2 or 4 door Hardtop and 2 door Convertible. Top was now the Fury in 4 door Sedan and 2 or 4 door Hardtop. The new high performance Sport Fury was available in 2 door Hardtop or Convertible. It got an upmarket interior with swivel seats. Suburban Wagons were still the Custom, Deluxe and Sport Engines; 132hp 230 cu in 6 cyl, 230 or 260hp 318 cu in V8s, Golden Commando 305hp 361 cu in V8 |
