Description

The Turnpike Cruiser was Mercurys flagship model from 1957-58. It was produced as a 2 door and 4 door hardtop. In 1957 a convertible was produced, serving as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 of that year. Styling cues included a wide array of gadgets including a Breezeway power rear window, twin jet air intakes at upper corners of car's windshield, and one of the first cruise controls. They were further differentiated from other Mercury models by a gold anodized trim strip in the car's rear fin. Engines; 368, 383 or 430 V8s
