Summary

[edit]
Description This OSCA MT4 (chassis 1164) was built by Ernesto, Bindo and Ettore Maserati in 1955 in the OSCA factory ini Bologna. It has the typical Spyder body built by Morelli. The OSCA MT4s were true giant slayers with their 1500-cc engine producing 130 bhp. OSCA's finest hour came in 1954 when Stirling Moss and Bill Lloyd drove a 1500 MT4 to an overall victory in the Sebring 12 Hours against the much stronger Ferraris, Lancias and Cunninghams. Imported into the United States by Harry Chapman, the Midwest OSCA dealer, this little OSCA MT4 raced at the Venezuela Grand Prix in 1955, driven by Bill "Bumpy" Bell. Other early drivers included Chick Leson and I.W. Stephenson. Its many appearances included one of the last races in the forest at Pebble beach in 1956. Its subsequent owners have raced the car almost continuously and its current owner, who purchased this car in 1994, has participated in many vintage races and rallies, winning many awards.
