The DeSoto Diplomat was a car produced by Chrysler, along with the Dodge Kingsway, for sale in export markets outside of the United States. They were a mix of Dodge and Plymouth components. From 38 to 56, they used Plymouth bodies, Desoto grille From 57 to 59, DeSoto Firesweep front clip with Plymouth body. and from 60 and 61 they were based on the full-size Dodge Dart. The Diplomat was also built in Australia from 1949-56 again based on the Plymouth, available in Custom, Regent and Plaza The 1953 SP24 Diplomat based on the P24 Plymouth, and the 1954-57 SP25 Diplomat based on the 1954 P25. A Coupe Utility version of the Sedan was introduced in 1956 |
