| Description |
The Buick Motor Company was formed in 1903, it was General Motors' upmarket car, second only to Cadillac. The unique to Buick, 'Ventiports' were introduced in 1949, four on the top Roadmaster and three on the other models. Buicks got a new larger body in 1954, they were roomier inside and featured a panoramic windshield and blunt tail fins. In 1954, the Series 60 Century returned, the 54 model had similar headlights to the 53, but a 'sad mouth' looking grille with vertical bars and 2 bullets protruding from the bumper. 1955 had a more oval mesh grille, fine horizontal bars in the grille in 56 and fine vertical bars in 57. The 1954 122 inch wheelbase Series 40 Special, with 143hp 263 cu in, was available in 2 or 4 door Sedan, Convertible, Wagon and 2 door Riviera Hardtop. The 127 inch wheelbase Series 50 Super, 177hp 322 cu in, available in 4 door Sedan, Convertible and 2 door Riviera Hardtop The 122 inch wheelbase Series 60 Century, 195hp 322 cu in, available in Convertible, 4 door Sedan, Wagon and 2 door Riviera Hardtop. The 127 inch wheelbase Series 70 Roadmaster, 200hp 322 cu in, available in Convertible, 4 door Sedan, 2 door Riviera Hardtop and Skylark Convertible.. |
