| Description |
Replacing the A40 Somerset, the Cambridge was introduced in 1954 with new unibody construction. The only BMC car to have a horizontal grille. The Cambridge was a 4 cyl car, with 6 bars in the grille, whereas the similar Westminster were all 6 cyl cars, with 7 bars in the grille. Initially only a 4 door saloon, were available as the 42hp 1200cc A40 and the 50hp 1489cc A50. This car was replaced in 1957 by the A55, it got a larger boot and larger rear window, a van and pickup were now also available. |
