Summary

[edit]
Description

1951 Marauder 75 convertible, 2.6 litre inline 6, at Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, 10 May 2024.

A very rare car indeed - only 15 were made, all convertibles except for one coupe. The Marauder Company was set-up by two former Rover employees in 1950 who decided to produce a sports car with a chassis based on the then new Rover 75 chassis with the Rover inline 6 engine and some Rover 75 body panels.

The engines used were the 2.1 litre (A model) or a bored-out 2.4 litre (100 model) although the one illustrated seems to have been re-engined later.

Production ceased in 1952 when rising costs and major tax changes on luxary cars made the car prohibitively expensive and unable to compete with similar cars from more established companies. The founders then returned to Rover. What a shame for it's a superb looking car.
