| Description |
The new look 1948 Cadillacs got pontoon front fenders, a pointed nose, lower grille, curved windshields and tailfins. The unique to Cadillac gas cap hidden behind the tail light was introduced. 1949 saw a new wider grille and new V8, smaller but more powerful 331 cu in OHV V8. For 1950, the Cadillac got a revamped grille incorporating large foglights, then small auxiliary grilles beneath the headlamps were added for 1951, a winged badge in that spot for 1952, one-piece rear windows and pointed front bumper guards for 1953. Fastback roof styles were gone for 1950, all of its 1950 coupes had hardtop rooflines; the new Coupe de Ville was introduced. Models available in 1950; Series 60 Special; Luxury 130in wheelbase V8, only 4 door sedan. Series 61; Entry level 122 inch wheelbase V8, 2 door coupe and 4 door sedan. Series 62; Entry level 126 inch wheelbase V8, 2 door coupe, hardtop and convertible and 4 door sedan Series 75; Luxury 147 inch wheelbase V8, sedan and limousine. Engine; All models got the 160hp 331 cu in V8. |
